Creating your Twitter account (Mobile)Clic para leer

•Fill out your name, phone number/email address. Use your real name as you will need to verify.

•Enter in the verification number that you received at whatever contact information you provided. Choose a strong password.

•Choose whether you'd like to sync your contacts. This may help you find Twitter followers, but if you don't want to, just tap ‘not now’.

•Search for interests e.g. sport. This will help Twitter recommend good profiles for you to follow.

•Twitter will suggest some accounts you can follow based on your interests. Choose ones that you think are interesting.

•You’re now ready to Tweet! Just click on the blue button on the top right to tweet, the grey silhouette on the top left to change your profile picture and settings, and start tweeting!

•Using @ is when you include somebody's @twittername in the tweet. The person will get a notification that you have mentioned them.

•RT means ‘retweet’. You can RT by either repost their tweet, or you can add a comment.

•DM means Direct Message. It allows you to chat in private.

•Hashtag # - A word or phrase preceded by the # symbol is highlighting a key word and allows you to search for that term.

Setting up your Facebook accountClic para leer

•Complete your Facebook profile before you begin to connect with friends.

•The profile area is called your ‘timeline’ as it shows a running order of your activities.

•You can upload two photos – a cover photo which is a banner across the top of your profile and a smaller square profile picture.

•On your timeline, you can include information about yourself such as education, work, hobbies etc.

Using FacebookClic para leer

•When you have completed your profile you can start to add friends by sending ‘friend requests’ to people.

•You can find friends by searching for them or Facebook can use your email contacts.

•You can also search for pages and ‘like’ them e.g. newspaper or sports teams.

•When you sign in to your account you will be taken to a homepage or ‘News Feed’ which is a series of posts from friends or from pages you have liked.

•If you would like to post, then go to the box that says ‘what’s on your mind’.

•You can communicate your activities, post a story or photo or share a video.

•This is called your ‘Status Update’.

•Facebook has a private chat option called Facebook Chat or Facebook Messenger.

•This allows to you to chat in real-time with any friends who may be online at the same time (Tip: if they are online then a green dot appears beside their name).

•On your mobile device you will need to install the Messenger App.
